Microsoft Ie 11 Offline ^HOT^

MDT adds IE11 to your Windows images, regardless whether you are creating or deploying a customized or non-customized image. MDT also lets you perform offline servicing during the System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager task sequence, letting you add IE11 before starting Windows. For info, see Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).

Microsoft Ie 11 Offline

You can add the IE11 update while you're performing offline servicing, or slipstreaming, of your Windows images. This method lets you deploy IE11 without needing any additional installation after you've deployed Windows.

Till 2015, Internet Explorer 11 offline installer was considered one of the best and most secure internet browsers in the world. But, Starting on January 12, 2016, Microsoft stopped providing security and technical support for Internet Explorer, and gradually its popularity decreased. Also, due to lower browsing speed and lack of plugins, extensions, and other required features compared to the latest version of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer is now less popular among netsurfers.

We can obtain those 9 updates either from the Microsoft Update site, following the links to download the files, or we can acquire them using some offline updating solution. We must choose appropriate update for our platform. The Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 is the 64-bit platform. That means that updates for the Windows 7 SP1 x64 will also fit the Window Server 2008 R2 SP1, if there is no special version of the update file. In most cases they are a same.

Although these scripts work, I searched for another way and I was guided by the idea of using only the DISM command. If I can make such a script, then I can later change it and make the offline integration script. After that, all I need is to update the install.wim file once and to have this update for all further installations.

We can now install other updates or leave the system as is. In the event that we want to update a newly installed Windows computer or the offline Windows Server, we should perform the update of IE11 before installing other updates. We should conduct this procedure before using the Autopatcher for the offline updating.

Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 11 with lots of improvements. This version has support for Windows 7 SP1 x86, Windows 7 SP1 x64, and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. However, Microsoft annoyingly shows you only the web installer by default. For those who need the offline installer for any of these OSes, here are direct links to the offline installers of Internet Explorer 11. The following links are for the English version of IE11:

Interestingly, when I tried to run the installers I got by looking up the KB numbers and downloadeding from microsoft, one said not applicable to this computer. [I now realize I had the wrong one for the first one, and the 2nd one said not applicable to this computer, so perhaps if I had downloaded the right one and installed them in order it would have worked.]

Was just curious to know methods of updating an existing WIM? Currently the WIM has IE 8 however there is a request to update to IE 11, not sure if this can be done using DISM offline or is it best practice to build and capture again?

Setting up offline access through a browser starts a process that copies mailbox data locally into a web database storage location. This is determined by the browser, and is typically a file or set of files on disk. For example, at the time this post was written, IE10 and Chrome browsers used the following file locations for their web database storage (on Windows):

The data stored for offline use is accessible through the Windows user account under which it is enabled, and is not encrypted. Like the other files on the computer, the best way to protect it is to use disk-level encryption such as Bitlocker.

By default, users are able to set up Outlook Web App 2013 for offline use. You can disable the ability for users in your organization to use Outlook Web App offline using the following Exchange Management Shell (EMS) commands:

If the network connection fails or is disabled while Outlook Web App is in use, users can continue working normally. Similarly, a user can start Outlook Web App when offline, such as on an airplane or in a café without WiFi, and use it normally. Outlook Web App will appear without requiring that they sign in. The best way to get to Outlook Web App when offline is by using a favorite or bookmark. When Outlook Web App is set up for offline use, Internet Explorer will give the option of creating a favorite. The Favorite makes it easy to navigate to the right place. The only indication that the app is working offline will be a timestamp in the bottom corner of the Outlook Web App mail view indicating the last time that Outlook Web App was updated.

Windows 11 Pro, Education, and Enterprise can be installed without the Internet (or even a network adapter present in the system). If you click the "I don't have Internet" link, the setup will offer offline account creation right away.

In Windows 10, it was possible to connect to the Internet and then go back in the setup, disconnect, and then continue with the offline account. This is no longer possible in Windows 11. Once you connect to Wi-Fi and get to the "Sign in" screen, you can't go back. While users connected over an Ethernet cable can simply unplug it, more and more devices no longer have RJ45 connectors and use Wi-Fi only. For these users, this is an issue as they can't go back and disconnect. Keyboard hotkeys to turn off Wi-Fi usually do not work at this stage as Windows is lacking the driver. /* 200) googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display("3f7282ccb4d0b47748886854aef8529c2"); ); else load(); }, // function to run when an element goes out of view disappear: function appear(el) //console.log("HEADER __NOT__ IN VIEW"); , //reappear: true }; }()) ); }()); //}); }); /* ]]> */

Hello Artodeto,as you can see you can setup Windows 11 offline also. Noone is forcing you to use cloud services later on.Internet is required just for Home edition, which is not used in organizations.Cheers

Hi Leos, U have summarised everything perfectly in yout post here of making Windows 11 work offline. Please note My point is not regarding how and where organizations store their data , it is just a reminder which emphasises what artodeto has mentioned in his reply to your post of sticking to Windows 10 as long as possible, All I am trying to say to further support his point is Organizations have many reasons to continue to stick to their own Data centres as opposed to moving to cloud.

So how do I get this back up and running? Downloading and trying to reinstall using the Internet Explorer 11 offline installer from Microsoft resulted in an error saying a more recent version of IE was already installed. *But where?*

Microsoft recommends Cached Exchange Mode so that a consistent online and offline Microsoft Outlook experience is enabled. You can turn on the Cached Exchange Mode from the Microsoft Outlook client. For more information, see -us/exchange/outlook/cached-exchange-mode. 041b061a72
