Where is the new location?

The 2021 Mustang Wrestling Camp will be held at Camp San Luis Obispo located at 10 Sonoma Ave., San Luis Obispo, CA 93405. Each driver will be required to have government issued photo identification to enter Camp SLO. A Campus map will be provided at check-in.



Is there airport or train station transportation?

For those traveling by plane or train, there will be a pick up and drop off option for $50, which includes a round trip escort to Camp SLO. All travel must be scheduled into the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport (SBP) or San Luis Obispo Amtrak Station. Arrival should be scheduled the morning of check-in on Sunday, and return travel must be scheduled for after 3 PM on Thursday.

What should each camper bring to camp?

All Campers:

• Wrestling shoes

• Running shoes

• Workout shirts and shorts

• Light jacket or sweatshirt

Residential Campers:

• Bedding for twin-size mattress (sheets, blankets, and pillows)

• Combination lock to secure valuables in the lockable closet

• Towels, shower items, antibacterial soap

• Laundry detergent (laundry is free of charge)

• Swim suit, towel, and sunblock for swimming pool

• Padded clothing for paintball (if playing)

• Money for camp store

Where do campers sleep?

Residential campers will reside onsite in housing that includes a twin-size bed (please bring bedding), individual lockable closet (please bring a combination lock), and two clothing storage bins. Each sleeping quarter will include 18 campers with supervision from 2 Cal Poly wrestlers. Girl residential campers will reside in separate bays with supervision from female camp clinicians.



Will there be an athletic trainer?

There will be a fully certified athletic trainer on site for all wrestling workouts for the duration of the camp to provide injury assessment, ice, tape, concussion protocol, and referrals to local doctors, if needed. Also, our lead camp clinicians are CPR and First Aid certified.



Can coaches and parents attend camp?

Coaches and parents are encouraged to attend the wrestling sessions located at the Gymnasium Building # 1003 free of charge. No coaches or parents are permitted to stay overnight in the resident hall. Morro Bay is 7 miles away and has a great selection of waterfront hotels and vacation rentals available.



Are there any team and leadership activities?

Technique campers will be split into groups to participate in team and leadership actives each evening under the direction of our Activities Director. The final evening will include a team hike to the bonfire experience for awards, goal setting, and motivational session.



Is there a paintball park?

Gladiator Paintball Park is located on site and has been reserved for Wednesday. The charge to play paintball is $50, which includes 4 full games of paintball, equipment, and 500 mid-grade paintballs per player. Parents/guardians must sign the Paintball Waiver and pay the additional paintball fee during the online camp registration process for the camper to be eligible to participate in paintball. Minimum age requirement participation in paintball is 10+ years and Splatterball is 8+ years.



Is there a swimming pool?

Our Tuesday evening session will take place at the Cuesta College Aquatics Center, comprised of a 50-meter competition-sized pool alongside a 25-yard rectangle therapy pool. Certified lifeguards will be on duty, along with Cal Poly Wrestling Staff.



Where do campers eat?

All meals will be held at the Camp San Luis Obispo Dining Facility (DFAC). This dining hall is an all you care to eat facility offering multiple hot plate options, salad bar, and refreshments. It has been labeled the “best food and cleanest DFAC of all Cal Guard installations.”



Is there a camp store?

The Camp store will be open each evening and offer a variety of snacks, pizza, sports drinks, and Cal Poly Wrestling apparel.



What is the camp tuition?

Boys Technique Camp

  • $575 Residential Camp
  • $425 Commuter Camp

Girls Technique Camp

  • $575 Residential Camp
  • $425 Commuter Camp

Beginner Camp

  • $295 Commuter Camp

Additional Fees:

  • $50 Paintball

Payment Plan:

  • Due to the coronavirus situation, we will be taking registrations for future events with $0 down and automatic payment scheduled closer to the date of the event as detailed during registration.
  • There is not additional charge for this payment plan.
  • All payments must be paid in full two weeks before camp begins.

Service Charge:

  • There will be a 6% service charge for all registrations.



Are there any discounts?

Team Discount of $100 per Wrestler

  • Available to any group who register ten (10) or more in one transaction.

  • Please email team roster to michelesioredas@me.com to receive team payment instructions.

Returning Camper Discount of $50 per Wrestler

  • Available to any camper who has attended any previous Mustang Wrestling Camp.

  • Must provide proof of purchase from previous camp and use the coupon code RETURNER

Sibling Discount of $25 per Wrestler

  • Siblings can receive a discount, if registered online together, and pay the deposits in one transaction.

  • You must also use the coupon code SIBLING

Only one discount per camper may be applied.



What is the refund policy?

Campers may cancel at any time before one week prior to camp to receive a refund of amount paid minus the $150 non-refundable deposit. Cancellations within one week of camp will be issued a camp credit for 50% of the total amount paid. No refunds or credits will be given for any reason on or after the camp start date.



What are the California Covid-19 restrictions for summer camp?

The California Department of Public Health announced on 4/6/2021 that on June 15, all industries across the state can return to usual operations with common-sense risk reduction measures such as masking and vaccinations.



What are the Mustang Wrestling Camp Safety Protocols?

  • Medical Forms / Releases
    • Before each Camper is allowed to check in, all medical forms and releases are checked for completion and parent/guardian signatures.
      • All known medical conditions are listed.
      • All medications are listed and checked in.
      • A COVID 19 status is listed.
        • Each Camper must have no signs or symptoms of COVID 19 in the past 14 days and have not been around anyone with symptoms in the past 14 days.
  • Camp Director
    • The Camp Director will monitor the physical appearance of all Campers each session.
    • At the start of each meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) the Camp Director will take the temperature of every Camper.
      • A non-touch thermal thermometer will be used.
      • Temperatures for every Camper will be documented on a spreadsheet.
        • If any Camper’s temperature reaches 100.4 or higher, the camper will be immediately removed from all activities and a parent/guardian will be required to pick up their child.
  • CPR Trained Coaches
    • Every Mustang Wrestling Lead Coach is CPR, AED, and First Aid trained.
  • On Site Licensed Athletic Trainer
    • A full-time Athletic Trainer will be on-site for the duration of each practice session to attend to all injuries or illnesses.
    • The Athletic Trainer will also have ice, tape, and other supplies.
  • Insurance
    • Mustang Wrestling Camp is fully insured with secondary camp insurance.
  • Hospital
    • After the visit, the Camp Director will make copies of the hospital paperwork for the camp and keep the paperwork for the parent/guardian. Paperwork will be given to the parent/guardian at the time of pick up.
    • The Camp Director will ensure the Camper is communicating with their parent/guardian.
    • If the Athletic Trainer believes any Camper needs to be taken to the hospital, the Camp Director will drive them to French hospital.
  • Cleaning and Hygiene
    • Before and after each wrestling session, all mats will be cleaned with bleach.
    • After each wrestling session, all Campers will be required to shower and change into clean clothes.
    • Each evening, Campers will be required to use the laundry facilities to wash their workout clothes.
